Hello! Shalom! Ahoj! Szia! Hej! Hallo! Sveiki! Czesc! Merhaba! Bok! Ciao! Yassas!
I’m Anthony Pecoraro, a 22-year-old from New York, who is embarking on a trip of a lifetime. Above, I wrote “hello” in the 12 languages that I will soon be immersed in as I take on a 65-day backpacking adventure through 12 countries in this beautiful world we live in.
First off, thank you for checking out my blog, as an avid writer I hope I will be able to make each reader feel as if they are right there with me each step of the way on this lifetime experience that I am oh so excited to take on – hence the name of the blog.I’m a 2014 graduate of West Virginia University with my degree in Television Journalism and as a young, curious person, I figured it’s now or never that I take a trip such as this. Say what you want, not all agree with my decision to delay my career and risk falling behind in the television business, but this simply just isn’t an opportunity that comes around every day and I believe the intangibles I will gain every single day on this adventure will be well worth the delay of my career in both the short and long term.
I’m an Anthony Bourdain enthusiast to the extreme. I love the man, he has played a big role in me taking this trip just by him being awesome and being one to say do what you want to do, not what others think you should do… and his first name is pretty great, if I do say so myself. Although much of what he says is words I attempt to live by, the quote below is my favorite one. That’s my reasoning for taking this trip in simplest terms… I’m hungry for what’s out there.
“If you’re twenty-two, physically fit, hungry to learn and be better, I urge you to travel – as far and as widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to. Find out how other people live and eat and cook. Learn from them – wherever you go.” – Anthony Bourdain
Anyways, I will be on top of this blog as much as I can and I hope to provide as many thrilling details as possible and keep the boring stuff out of my blog.
Enjoy reading, my friends!
